Indulge in the heritage and sophistication of Château Talbot, a 4ème Cru Classé from the esteemed Saint-Julien appellation in Bordeaux. Named after the historic Connétable Talbot, a revered English warrior, this château has a rich legacy dating back to 1855 when it was classified as a fourth growth in the renowned Bordeaux classification. For over a century, Château Talbot has been a symbol of excellence, nurtured by the Cordier family, who have elevated it to one of the most iconic wines in the region.

Tasting Notes:

  • Nose: Château Talbot entices with an aromatic bouquet of blackberries, chocolate, and subtle oak, complemented by a delicate hint of vanilla. These harmonious aromas set the stage for a refined and complex tasting experience.
  • Palate: On the palate, this wine is full-bodied and well-structured, with flavours of dark fruits, a touch of spice, and a smooth, velvety texture. The wine's tannins are beautifully integrated, leading to a long, satisfying finish that lingers with elegance and finesse.

Heritage: Château Talbot boasts an expansive 110-hectare vineyard, all in one contiguous piece, located in the heart of the Saint-Julien appellation. The vineyard's prime location on the Médoc's gravel ridges and alluvial deposits, near the Gironde estuary, provides the perfect conditions for cultivating the finest Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot grapes.

Vinification: The winemaking process at Château Talbot is a blend of tradition and innovation. The grapes are meticulously hand-harvested and undergo both manual and optical sorting to ensure only the highest quality fruit is used. The wine is then vinified in oak vats, followed by 15 months of aging in French oak barrels, 60% of which are new, adding depth and complexity to the final wine.

The Blend: This exquisite wine is primarily composed of Cabernet Sauvignon, with Merlot adding softness and richness. The combination of these varietals creates a wine that is both powerful and elegant, embodying the classic characteristics of a Saint-Julien.

Serving Suggestions: Best enjoyed at a temperature of 16 to 18°C, Château Talbot pairs beautifully with a variety of dishes, including grilled meats, lamb, and rich, savory stews. It also complements a fine selection of cheeses, making it a versatile choice for gourmet meals and special occasions.

Cellaring Potential: While Château Talbot is accessible and enjoyable now, it also has the potential to age gracefully for several decades. With time, the wine will develop even more complexity, revealing deeper layers of flavour and a more nuanced character.
